CBC spotlight on major junior

Six Canadian Hockey League (CHL) games, including two featuring teams from the Ontario Hockey League, will be televised by the CBC during the 2021-22 regular season. The Ottawa 67’s at Barrie Colts on Oct. 23 at 3 p.m. and the Mississauga Steelheads at Kingston Frontenacs on Nov. 13 also at 3 p.m. are being televised as part of a new multiplatform, multi-year partnership between the CHL and the public broadcaster. The CHL, umbrella organization for the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and Western Hockey League as well as the OHL, is “very excited” to be working with the CBC. “Their iconic position in Canadian hockey combined with the CHL’s role as the top development league in the world will make for a winning partnership,” said CHL president Dan MacKenzie. Also scheduled are two games from the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League — the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies at Shawinigan Cataractes, being played on Oct. 9 at 3 p.m., and the Saint John Sea Dogs at Drummondville Voltigeurs, which goes Nov. 6 at 3 p.m. — as well as two from the west — the Prince Albert Raiders at Regina Pats on Oct. 2 at 1 p.m. mountain time and the Calgary Hitmen at Red Deer Rebels, which goes at 1 p.m. mountain time.
